Eagle Ski Club Senja ski tour

This island is a few hours south of Tromso. It offers great options for coastal Arctic ski touring, wild scenery and northern lights if you’re lucky! Self catered accommodation to keep costs reasonable.
Senja is less well known than the honeypots of Lyngen and Lofoten but provides equally good potential for ski touring. Accessible with a 2-3 hour drive from Tromso, the scenery is spectacular and the landscape could have been made for ski touring with ascents up to just under 1000m and on a variety of aspects. The weather is varied, as one would expect in an Arctic maritime environment. Often weather and snow conditions can be radically different in adjacent fjords/valleys and so a flexible approach is the key.
