For a smaller carbon footprint, you can travel from London via Eurostar and then the TGV from Paris http://www.raileurope.co.uk/snowtrains/eurostar_resort/default.asp to many European destinations.

Once in Geneva, you can either hire a car from one of the many agencies based in the airport, or travel up to Chamonix by transfer taxi, such as Mountain Dropoffs. Please note that, out of season, many of these operators run a skeleton service or none at all!
If we are meeting to climb or ski in Switzerland, you can take advantage of the excellent Swiss train system which runs directly from Geneva airport via Martigny up the Rhone valley, from where bus connections can be made to the ski resorts.
